Of course, you could still submit the file to a machine and print it from there, but there’s a much simpler way: print it directly from the iPad. It’s simple as long as you’re on the same Wi-Fi network as an AirPrint printer or a wireless-enabled printer with a smartphone app.
AirPrint: Several printers now have an AirPrint feature that enables iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad to print wirelessly. AirPrint was launched by Apple in 2010, and most printer manufacturers have adopted it in the ensuing decade. If you need to upgrade your printer, it’s not difficult to find an AirPrint-compatible model.
Connect iPad Air to Canon Printer
- First and foremost, hit the Power button on your Canon printer to switch it on.
- Now, disconnect the printer’s Bluetooth or any cable connections, as your printer cannot be linked to your computer through Bluetooth or to a router via Ethernet cable when using AirPrint.
- After that, if your printer is not already linked to a Wi-Fi network, connect it to one. Use the printer’s menu to select a robust Wi-Fi connection.
- Now, open the settings app on your iPad by clicking on the “Settings” icon.
- Now, on the top-left corner of the screen, tap “Wi-Fi.” This will bring up the Wi-Fi menu on your iPad.
- Make sure you and your printer are on the same network. Your iPad, on the other hand, must be linked to the same wireless network as your printer.
- Now, place your printer just near the iPad and then print the documents
Steps to print from your iPad using AirPrint:
You don’t need to mount or set up a printer on the iPad in the same way as you would on a regular device to print with AirPrint. Simply make sure your iPad is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer you want to use, and then follow these steps:
- On your iPad, open the email or paper you want to print.
- The printing method differs slightly between apps. Tap the “Reply” arrow (in the Mail app), the square with an upward arrow (in Safari and Photos), or the three-dot menu to find the app’s “share” feature (in many other apps).
- Select “Print” or the print symbol from the menu.
- Tap “Select Printer” and wait for a list of AirPrint printers in the area to emerge.
- Choose any print settings you want, including the quantity of copies and whether to print in color or black and white.
- Select “Print.”
You could still be able to print if your nearby printer doesn’t have AirPrint but is a wireless printer, though it would be less convenient. Some wireless printers, such as Canon’s, come with mobile apps that allow you to print from your iPad. Check the user manual or website for your wireless printer to see if it supports printing apps.
Most printer manufacturers include a free app (such as Canon’s) that allows you to print documents from your iPad or iPhone.
- To begin, get the Canon Print App for your iOS smartphone.
- Open the App Store icon in your browser.
- Then, on the search button, type Canon Print into the search box and press the search button.
- Now go to your device’s app store and search for Canon Print App to download and install.
- Set up your Canon printer after the Canon Print software has been successfully installed.
- Check to see if your printer is turned on and plugged in. The green light at the power button will illuminate when the printer is turned on.
- Test your printer’s blue Wi-Fi light now. The light on the Wi-Fi router should be blinking. Keep down the Wi-Fi button until the warning light flashes twice if the Wi-Fi light is steady. Now press and hold the Wi-Fi button.
- Select ‘Connect via Wireless Router’ from the drop-down menu. Now you’ll see a screen asking you to link your computer to the Canon IJ setup network via Wi-Fi.
- Navigate to your device’s settings menu.
- Connect to the Canon IJ setup network by tapping on the Wi-Fi option.
- If the computer is attached, go to the Canon Print app and select OK. Pick the access point or wireless network name that you want to use next.
- Tap OK after entering your wireless network’s password.
- The printer will receive the network settings. When you see this post, tap OK.
- Wait for your printer to be identified, and then click on the name of your printer when it appears.
- Selecting this option will connect your iPad Air to the Canon Printer.
