NABH – National Accreditation Board of Hospitals and Healthcare – providers is a special board of India’s Quality Council of India (QCI) which ensures all Hospitals and healthcare providing companies are providing quality health services according to the guidelines set by NABH itself.
What is NABH Certification/Accreditation?
As we discussed that NABH provides the guidelines for all hospitals to provide quality healthcare services, the proof in the form of certification is given to each Hospital and Healthcare providing company which is called the NABH Certification and the outcome is known as NABH Accreditation. In simple words, you can compare this certification as an academic degree for a student who sees a bright future.
Why NABH Certification is necessary for hospitals
- More often, a hospital or healthcare provider is certified by any local authority which has no stand in front of NABH and no such standards are followed for quality healthcare services.
- Not only this but, the infrastructure & manpower providing by the majority of the hospitals is not in control and does not verify the global standards, which consequently degrades the excellence of healthcare service in our country. NABH guides & ensures the quality, good infrastructure, signage for patients, patient rights, doctor’s responsibility and many more to make the hospital’s standard better and increase the quality of services.
Benefits of getting NABH accreditation certified
- If your hospital is NABH certified, the patients will see this accreditation as proof that your hospital provides good healthcare services. So, the incoming of the patient automatically increases if your healthcare services are NABH verified.
- CGHS & other cashless rate lists have higher rates for NABH approved hospitals than private hospitals.
In Ayushman Bharat, hospitals with high-quality health care facilities may provide universal and cost-effective health services. More and more hospitals are interested in joining the programme. It is important to note that NABH certified hospitals get more advantages than those that are not accredited.
Also, it becomes equally important for the hospitals and healthcare centres that they get registered themselves in the Rohini registry. What is Rohini Registry? In the network of health insurers and Third Party Administrators (TPAs), ROHINI – Registry of Hospitals in Network of Insurance – is a register of hospitals and medical day-care facilities.
Rohini was first established by the IIB – Insurance Information Bureau of India – which is further upheld by the IRDAI – Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India. Rohini has more than 33,000 healthcare centres and hospitals listed by now.
What are the benefits of the Rohini registry?
- Because it is the duty of Rohini that each hospital/medical day-care centre is named just once, it makes the insurance claims process go more smoothly.
- There are many hospitals and healthcare facilities in India, but Rohini registration provides credibility and visibility to them all.
- It is able to quickly, reliably and accurately report at the national, regional, and state-level on geographic trends, patterns of illness incidence and cost patterns, among other things.
- Rohini also ensures that there will be no insurance frauds because of fake hospital information and data.
